USAID: Be an Ambassador for Change

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) works to end extreme global poverty and enable resilient, democratic societies to realize their potential. The organization has partnered with Bangladesh since its 1971 independence and is committed to helping achieve its goal of becoming a middle-income country by 2021–its 50th year of independence.

While the economic aspects are crucial to development, a larger issue lies in ensuring societal values that would bring positive change within people. Nearly two out of three women in Bangladesh are victims of abuse.

USAID Bangladesh has prompted awareness among the mass through online and offline communication in accordance with the globally observed 16 days of activism to end gender based violence. Their official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/USAID.Bangladesh) recently posted two videos on the costs and consequences of violence against women, and to help prevent eve teasing. The theme for the videos: ‘Be an Ambassador for Change’.

The video shows documented accounts of the lives of two young women who were brave enough to share their stories of abuse.
